This summer, SATANAMA Lab launched a new initiative called SATANAMA Factory! We held sessions on July 27 and August 10. Many participants told us how much fun they had, making both days a great success.
What Is SATANAMA Factory?
This initiative began with a simple wish: to create a fun way for more people to join our activities. As we chat and work on tasks such as attaching fasteners and tags, we learn more about upcycling and connect with each other. We aim to create a warm, enjoyable space.
Meeting for the First Time
At the second session on August 10, none of the participants had met before. Yet once the work began, conversation flowed naturally and everyone quickly relaxed. One person joined through Peatix because they were interested in upcycling. It was lovely to connect with people who shared that feeling. Children joined us too, playing while helping with the work. Watching them take part in making things, rather than simply playing, made the atmosphere even warmer.
Items with Their Own Personality
Every item made from a yoga mat has its own look and texture. That is part of SATANAMA Lab's appeal: each piece has a unique character. Showing each other our finished items and saying, "This color combination is so cute!" was a lovely moment. The work went more smoothly than expected, and sharing the sense of achievement—"Look how much we made today!"—was another big joy.
A Toast and Conversation After the Work
After the session came time for a well-earned drink. Sharing our thoughts about the day over cold beer or juice was wonderful! It is more than simply working together. This relaxed time leaves a warm, lasting feeling.
Reaching Someone's Everyday Life
The items we made are scheduled to go on sale in our online store later. Just imagining something we made being used in someone's everyday life somewhere fills us with warmth and excitement. We hope the care that goes into handmade items reaches them too.
Looking Ahead to the Next Session
